Celebrating Mothering Sunday

IMG_6026

Today our benefice celebrated all the wonderful things that mothers bring to our world. Of course it was also a time when we remembered those who had lost their mother or have had difficulty with motherhood.

The photo is from the St Mary’s service where the children were given the chance to give flowers to their mother. It was a great service in which the children behaved really well and had a lot of fun.  Vicar Ben reminded us that the church is a community comprised of people from old to young, in which we all have a responsibility to help and look out for  each other – just as mothers do with their family.

Happy Mother’s Day to all mums!

  1. At St. Michael’s Hinton we are not fortunate enough to have children at church regularly, just occasionally. However, we too had hand made posies that each member of the congregation was given either to give a to lonely friend or to keep in memory of a wife or mother. The lovely service does remind us of childhood Mother’s Day, when we were given posies to give to out Mothers.
