In September, we’re climbing the three peaks of Great Britain in 48 hours! That’s going to be hard and a bit of training is needed, even for the vicar! This Saturday, we’re taking in some of the best little hills and trails of the New Forest in a training walk of about 20 miles. The walk starts at 9am and should be done by 3.30pm. We’re setting off from All Saints Church, Thorney Hill, where there is ample parking.
You will need:
- The boots you’re planning on using if you’re doing the main challenge, with tough laces and good socks
- A packed lunch, enough water and a flask of tea
- A few layers and a good windproof/waterproof jacket
- Possibly a hat – it’s going to be windy
- A big enough bag
The main challenge will be the wind, which will make the walk less of a pleasant stroll and more of a proper bit of character-building, blister-inducing training! The route has been planned so that we’ll be under cover of trees whilst walking into the wind and have the wind behind us most of the time we’re out in the open.
If you’re the sort of person who tends to be late (and we don’t have anyone like that at St Mary’s), perhaps get in touch to let Ben know that you’re coming so the team don’t leave without you.
