Today the people of Thorney Hill were treated to a performance of Orland Furioso, with Hannah Ely as soprano and Harry Buckoke on the vilo de gamba (which is like a mini cello, yet it is fretted and more in-line with the lute family than the cello family – this information was provided by Harry).
Orlando Furioso is a medieval poem, which has over 4000 verses (although the audience were treated to a more streamlined selection). It is an epic tale of knights, humour, tragedy and chivalry. The poem also has many strong female characters.
The church was packed out and the musical performance was a pleasure to watch and hear – the talent of the duo was stupendous.
All the monies from the event go towards music therapy at the Poole Hospital.
Wish if I could have been there, maybe. Next time
Glad you all enjoy
See you all on Sunday
Do look out for the concerts in aid of Music Therapy at Poole Hospital. They have all been amazing.
Sounds amazing. Disappointed to have missed the event 😔.
